LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The second annual Duke Smyser Chili Blast Open is set for Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the modified four-person scramble begins at 1 p.m. at the Ravines Golf Club, 8525 Division Rd. in West Lafayette.
The Chili Blast Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and is catered by The Pub.
Registration for individual golfers is $65 each; $240 for foursomes. Golf and dinner is included. Cost for the Chili Blast Dinner only is $15 per person.
Proceeds from the Chili Blast Open will be donated to the Kathryn Weil Center for Education and toward the purchase of AEDs (automated external defibrillators) to be placed with area organizations in Tippecanoe and adjacent counties. The Kathryn Weil Center for Education oversees the Revive & Survive program, while also working to secure AEDs for other groups who fall outside the guidelines of the Revive & Survive program.
The Chili Blast Open is named for Duke Smyser, who was a Lafayette banker for almost 30 years before succumbing to heart disease in 2006.
