TAF receives Totem from Wabash Valley Potters

Pottery totem entitled Collaboration

Collaboration was created by the members of the Wabash Valley Potters as a thank you for their appreciation of the work the Tippecanoe Arts Federation does to promote the arts in Greater Lafayette.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tippecanoe Arts Federation announces the receipt of a totem from the Wabash Valley Potters. The piece, titled Collaboration, was created by the members of the Wabash Valley Potters as a thank you for their appreciation of the work the Federation does to promote the arts.

“The idea to create the Collaboration came about from my time in college… it was always interesting to see that although some of the pieces ‘failed’ as individual pieces, they became extremely interesting when put together with others. When Wabash Valley Potters applied to do the From the Garden, For the Garden, we wanted to do a piece to ‘give back’ to TAF for all the help with past and hopefully future shows. The totem idea seemed fitting,” said potter Diana May. “None of us had any idea what the others’ pieces looked like. We all brought our pieces together one afternoon and arranged the totem. After a few minor changes for structural balance, and aesthetic reasons, we had the piece you see now.”

Tetia Lee, Executive Director of TAF, said the Wabash Valley Potters’ gift to the Federation highlights the talents of the regional artists and underlines the generous spirit of the community.

Collaboration can be seen in the downstairs entry way of the Wells Community Cultural Center in Lafayette during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
