Art on the Wabash features 38 area artists on Sept 19

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The fifth annual “Art on the Wabash, a Local Artists Fair,” featuring the works of 38 artists, will fill Tapawingo Park at Tapawingo Drive and State Street in West Lafayette on Sunday, September 19, from 10:00a to 4:00p.

The 5th annual Art on the Wabash will be held at West Lafayette’s Tapawingo Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2009.

The public is invited and admission is free, with free parking available in the Wabash Landing parking garage for those attending the fair.

Artists will be on hand to talk about their art, which will be offered for sale.

“Art on the Wabash has quickly earned a reputation for showcasing high-caliber artists and art in this area,” said Beverly Shaw, Art on the Wabash committee chair. “The variety of media and artistic interpretations represented will cover the spectrum. And items will range from functional to decorative, whimsical to classical, and every one uniquely creative.”

Artists from a 15-county area were invited to apply for the fair. Those who will participate were chosen in a juried process by Indiana artist Nathan Boyd Jones, an assistant professor of art at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., who earned his master’s of fine arts from Humboldt State University in California.

Participating artists are:

  • Gourd artist Debby Remsburg
  • Jewelry artists Elizabeth Beeson, Kathryn Bodine, Linda Elmore, Lisa Hopkins, Beth McCord and Evie McCord of EB Bead & Metal Works and Joanne Kuhn Titolo
  • Mixed media artists Terri Duncan and Sara Vanderkleed
  • Painters Michael Altman, Stacy Bogan, Rebecca Brody, Alice Harpel, Rhonda Mitchell, Craig Whitten and Andria Workman

  • Pencil artist Tony Jeurissen
  • Photographers J. Michael Brooks and Terry Crose
  • Potters Lynne Corrigan, Ingrid Craft and Rachael Schatko of Coal Creek Clay, Mary Thomas Firestone, Scott Frankenberger, Nancy Grenard, Gail Johnston, Linda LeMar, Diana May, Angi Peterson and Angela Vinson
     Sculptors Thomas Billeaux and Donna Leuck
  • Wood artists Larry Clark and James Harper

The fair is presented by the City of West Lafayette with assistance from Tippecanoe Arts Federation and sponsorship funding from KitchenArt, The Store for Cooks.
