“This show is our pinnacle, most powerful production of the year,” said Bill Griffel, Purdue Musical Organizations director. “We’re telling an original story with character dialogue between the musical numbers. To help us tell our story, we’re continuing the tradition of the big screens so there’s not a bad seat in the house.”

More than 250 campus and community performers will be featured in the show including members of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, Purduettes, Purdue Bells, University Choir, Heart & Soul, All Campus & Community Chorale and the PMO Kids Choir, which includes 27 area children.

“In the past, final exams have always started the morning after our production weekend,” said Griffel. “To better serve the academic needs of our students, the Christmas Show is being presented one weekend earlier beginning this year.”

Performances are scheduled for noon, 4 and 8 p.m. Dec. 4, and 2 p.m. Dec. 5 in Purdue’s Elliott Hall of Music. Tickets are $20 for students age 13 through college; $26 for adults; $24 for seniors age 65 and older; and $12 for children age 12 and under. For information or to order tickets, visit the Stewart Center, Pao Hall or Elliott Hall box offices or call 765-494-3933 or 800-914-7469. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster.

In addition to the Purdue Christmas Show, the annual “Dickens of a Christmas” celebration, which turns downtown Lafayette into a Victorian village, and the Lafayette-West Lafayette Christmas Parade will be presented on Dec. 4 and 5, respectively.

“This year we’ve partnered with Greater Lafayette Commerce and area leaders to help transform our community into the ‘Christmas Capital of the Midwest,’” said Griffel. “The partnership with our community leaders has been tremendous.”
