LAFAYETTE, Ind. — St. Elizabeth Regional Health announces that the following departments have recently received recertification from their professional certifying organizations:
- The Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have been recertified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Each program is vigorously reviewed for essential standards of care including documentation of patient assessment, interventions and outcomes, staff competencies, policies and procedures, and emergency preparedness. Documents submitted for the 3 year certification are reviewed by state and national certification committees with final approval by the AACVPR Board of Directors.
- The Sleep Disorder Center at St. Elizabeth Regional Health received program reaccreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
To receive the five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process involves detailed inspection of a center’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training. Additionally, the facility’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves. AASM currently accredits more than 1,500 sleep medicine centers and laboratories across the country.
The St. Elizabeth Sleep Disorder Center has been accredited since 1988 and is directed by Shahid M. Ahsan, M.D., a board certified and fellowship trained sleep medicine physician with the Sigma Medical Group.
