WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), has named Joshua Cox operations superintendent at the company’s West Lafayette district. Cox will oversee the company’s local workforce and production and distribution systems, which includes two new water treatment facilities and more than 130 miles of water mains.

“Josh has more than four years experience in constructing and managing water and wastewater infrastructure projects in a variety of roles,” said Deron Allen, Indiana American Water’s Director for the company’s western region. “In addition to his job experience, he also has obtained two related degrees, and is in the process of obtaining a master’s degree in engineering from Purdue University. We are very fortunate to have Josh heading up our West Lafayette operation and I look forward to working with him to continue to improve customer service and to lead our community relations efforts in the area.”
Cox’s start in the industry was as a summer general laborer for Infrastructure Contractors, Inc. while earning his bachelor’s degree and as an engineering intern for Indianapolis-based CSO Architects and Delphi’s Electronics & Safety division in Kokomo. After graduating from Trine University in 2003, he was hired by Delphi as a Manufacturing Process Engineer, where he eventually earned a Six Sigma Green Belt.
Prior to joining Indiana American Water, Cox worked most recently as a project manager for Midwest Mole of Indianapolis since October 2009. He was responsible for managing all aspects of numerous construction projects for the company, including several large tunneling projects.
Cox holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Trine University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University. He is currently working on his Master of Science degree in Engineering from Purdue University with an Industrial Engineering concentration.
Indiana American Water’s West Lafayette District has over 10,600 customer connections. The total population served is approximately 28,000 people.
