“How to Start a Franchise” free workshop offered by GLC, SCORE

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Greater Lafayette Commerce and SCORE are partnering to offer a free workshop entitled “How to Start a franchise Business” from 6:00p to 8:00p on Tuesday, March 2nd at the Swezey Commerce Center, 337 Columbia St. in Downtown Lafayette, Indiana.

There is a misperception that franchises are expensive and for food and retail only. This workshop will discuss a broader range of franchises and how affordable they can be.

Jim Gleason of FranNet of Mid-America will conduct the workshop. Gleason is a franchise consultant with experience matching parties with franchises.

Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Jerry Holsapple said, “the workshop will help participants determine if franchise business ownership is a good fit for them and it will help them find a way to establish that all important first contact with a quality company.”

“We see an increase in potential entrepreneurship as people leave their current employers to start a new venture and as some adjust job searches to include being self employed,” says Holsapple. “There are many ways to start your own businesses, but there seems to be less understanding of the advantages of franchises.”

Topics covered at the workshop include:

  • What is franchising and why does it work? What are the Pros and Cons?
  • What are the different types of franchises?
  • What are the costs associated with owning and operating a franchise?
  • How to select and investigate a franchise?
  • Do I have the capabilities and resources to make this happen?

The “How to Start a Franchise” workshop is free, but reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made by calling Greater Lafayette Commerce at 765.742.4044
