How to Add Community Calendar Events

1. Choose Your Event Category

To begin, you'll need to navigate to the calendar on which you'd like your event to appear. (You can do this at the bottom of this page... please read through all of the instructions first!) We currently have the following calendar categories available:

  • Community Calendar
Examples of events to include here are local municipal dates of interest or importance, public meetings, etc.

  • Sports, Entertainment and The Arts
Events that should be included here include spectator sporting events, athletic league sign-up deadlines, sports and arts call-outs, lectures, festivals, concerts, performances, tours, etc.

  • Business Calendar
This calendar is for events like networking meetings, grand openings, important dates and deadlines relevant to the local business community, lecture series, professional association meetings and call-outs, etc.

We can create new calendars as needed. If you have a suggestion for a new calendar category, please send us an email and tell us about it.

2. Click on "Add Event"

Once you've navigated to the calendar on which you want your event to appear, click on "Add Event" in the navigation bar on the left side of the calendar. (See illustration below.)

3. Fill out the form and click "Save"

  • Event Field: Be succinct in this field. This is the same information that will be used in the calendar grid, so please limit your title to no more than 25 characters (letters and spaces).

  • Description Field: You may use up to 500 words to promote your event. You may use multiple paragraphs if desired. If you would like to include a URL or web address, enter it like this: http://www.whatever.com/. If you enter your web addresses in this format, the program will automatically turn them into hyperlinks.

  • Location Field: Put the address of the event in this field. Be sure to include major crossroads or nearby landmarks, if you think it will help people find the location.

  • Cost Field: Enter the admission price or ticket cost in this field. If you event is free or requires reservations, use this field to indicate that.

  • The "For Info" Field: Use this field to let people know who should be contacted for additional information about the event. You can include a web address to your organization's website, or your event website if applicable.

  • Time and Date Fields: These are fairly self-explanatory fields, so you won't have any trouble entering the information. Just don't forget to fill them in. They are required fields.
