Ivy Tech celebration, service project commemorates Dr. King

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — On Friday, January 16, 2009 from noon to 1 pm Ivy Tech will be hosting a Community Peace Program celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

The program will feature a keynote address by Pastor Paul Barrett of the Second Baptist Church, music from Tecumseh Junior High School Choir, special recognition of the elementary school Essay Contest winners, and a shoe donation presentation to Hanna Community Center.

The community is welcome to join the celebration which will be held in the NCHS Auditorium of Ivy Hall located at 3101 South Creasy Lane, Lafayette.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19, Ivy Tech is teaming with Hanna Community Center for a service project from 8 am to 10:30 am.

The service project, designed to help the community center with needed repairs, will take place at Hanna Community Center, 1201 North 18th Street, Lafayette.
