Meals on Wheels to host Mayors for Meals Day on March 18

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Meals on Wheels will hold a “Mayors for Meals Day” as part of the March For Meals campaign. Mayor Tony Roswarski of Lafayette and Mayor John Dennis of West Lafayette will participate in the event, scheduled to kick off at 10:20 am on Wednesday March 18, to show support for our community’s senior citizens.

The Mayors will be taking time out of their busy schedules to deliver meals to Meals on Wheel’s elderly and disabled clients.

March For Meals is a national campaign, in which Meals on Wheels of Tippecanoe County is a participant, to raise awareness of senior hunger, as well as to encourage community action. Senior nutrition programs across the United States promote March For Meals in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

We hope to raise awareness of senior hunger in our community,” said Angi Goodwin, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels. “Mayor Roswarski and Mayor Dennis have both shown support for our elderly and disabled clients, by participating in this event in prior years. The clients look forward to this day each year.”
