Ivy Tech Community Peace Program to commemorate Martin Luther King

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Ivy Tech Lafayette will host a Community Peace Program to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. this Friday (Jan. 15) from noon to 1:00pm.

The program will feature a keynote address by Travis Brown, music from the Tecumseh Singers of Lafayette, special recognition of the Essay Contest winners, and a winter clothing donation presentation.

The community is welcome to join the celebration which will be held in the NCHS Auditorium of Ivy Hall located at 3101 South Creasy Lane, Lafayette, Indiana.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 18, Ivy Tech will be participating in a day of service project at Cary Home for Children from 9 am to 1 pm.

The focus of the service project is a series of workshops designed to help the teens of Cary Home for Children experience positive adult mentorship and learn important life skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Workshop topics include leadership, creating positive life experience out of adversity, the myths and realities of college life, importance of giving back to the community, understanding personal finance, basic fitness, and creative expression through art.
