Area IV Agency, Mid-Land Meals announce new free meal program

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs has been awarded economic stimulus funding to offer nutritional meals free of charge to low-income, elderly and disabled individuals who are at or below 200% of poverty and living in affordable housing complexes or homebound living independently in Carroll, Clinton, Tippecanoe or White Counties. Area IV will work with Mid-Land Meals of Lafayette to provide five frozen meals per week to individuals who meet these criteria.

Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs has been awarded economic stimulus funding to offer nutritional meals free of charge to low-income, elderly and disabled individuals.

Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs is a non-profit, social service organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals, families and communities. The Agency serves Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren and White Counties. Main office is located in Lafayette with satellite offices in Crawfordsville, Delphi, Frankfort, Monticello and Williamsport. Area IV Head Start Pre-School locations are Flora, Frankfort and Monticello.

Mid-Land Meals has been providing meals since 1974, and now prepares approximately 1,900 meals a day that are delivered to homes, housing complexes, senior centers, nutrition sites , day cares and schools. Meals are delivered in Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren and White Counties.
