Fifth annual Community Fish Fry, Car Show to benefit Lafayette Red Cross

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office will host its fifth annual Community Fish Fry and Car Show fundraiser to benefit the local chapter of the American Red Cross. The food and festivities are scheduled for Friday, June 4, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds on Teal Road in Lafayette.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to unite once again with the American Red Cross to promote this increasingly popular event. The Sheriff’s office is no stranger to the services that the American Red Cross provides. The Red Cross routinely provides assistance to victims affected by disasters in our own community, but also administers care to local emergency personnel who are called to duty during difficult times.

“I am encouraged by the overall response the Fish Fry generates each and every year. We strive to make each event more memorable than the year before. It can be a challenge, organizing an event of this magnitude, but it is very rewarding. I applaud the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office and all the other volunteers, especially our sponsors –- they are the ones that make it all happen. Everyone pulls together. They do a great job and it shows” said Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown.

American Red Cross Executive Director Bob Wollenburg could not agree more.

“With this effort, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and community volunteers are helping the American Red Cross sustain our mission to help others in their time of need. The event is a fine example of what can happen when citizens unite for a common cause! We are very appreciative that the members of our local Sheriff’s Office and other community members are willing to volunteer their time and efforts in support of the American Red Cross. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the entire community,” Wollenburg said.

Wollenburg also stated that Military Family Resource and Veterans Resource groups would have displays and representatives on hand this year to provide information as well.

Tickets are priced at $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children ages 2-12. Children under the age of two are free. Pre-event tickets may be purchased during normal business hours at the Sheriff’s Office at 2640 Duncan Road, in Lafayette or at the Red Cross Chapter House located 615 N. 18th Street, Suite 101 in Lafayette. Tickets will also be on sale at the door, June 4th.
