After-school engineering program offered for 6th-8th graders

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -– Purdue University will offer students in sixth through eighth grades two after-school engineering sessions during the spring semester.

Purdue Women in EngineeringThe Innovation to Reality (I2R) program, sponsored by Purdue’s Women in Engineering Program, will focus on finding solutions to the global problems of food supply and energy.

The free sessions will offer presentations, lab tours and hands-on activities coordinated by Purdue faculty and students.

“Edible Engineering: The Life Cycle of Food” will be held on Thursdays from Jan. 13 through Feb. 10. Registration deadline is Nov. 19.

“The Energy Game: We’ve Got The Power!” will be held on Tuesdays from Feb. 8 through March 8. Registration deadline is Jan. 14.

Both programs will run from 4-6 p.m.

Although the sessions are free, a refundable deposit is required to hold an applicant’s position. Registration is limited to the first 25 students to apply per session. Online registration is available at
