May 2 is deadline to apply for Tippecanoe “Youth Building” grants

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The May 2 deadline to submit proposals is fast approaching for a brand new funding opportunity to benefit youth in Tippecanoe County.

Up to $100,000 has been made available by the Board of Directors of The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette through discretionary funds to seed Youth Building initiatives. The Community Foundation staff and Board has sought the best thinking of citizens, not-for-profit organizations, research institutions, and public agencies serving Tippecanoe County in Indiana. The Foundation has studied community need and is now issuing a “Youth Building” RFP focused specifically on strengthening Tippecanoe County youth by addressing the root causes of alcohol and other drug abuse, teen pregnancy, and gangs through a collaborative effort by local and regional organizations.

The Community Foundation seeks:

  • Concrete, practical, and impactful project proposals that include both well-tested models which can be scaled up or expanded regionally while maintaining local relevance, and new pilots that, if successful, can be grown and replicated
  • Collaborative work and benefits
  • Public and private partners working together with not-for-profit organizations
  • Demonstration of knowledge of the sector and its trends
  • Identification of a target population to be reached and justification for that focus
  • Clear benchmarks for measuring progress.

Up to two grants totaling no more than $100,000 will be awarded.

Application deadline is 12 noon on May 2, 2011.

Application information is available online at Follow the links under Grantseekers.
