Lafayette man in custody after early morning hit-and-run near Triple XXX

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Lafayette man has been arrested for a hit and run that happened in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, July 9th in West Lafayette.

Shortly before 3:30am on the 9th, the West Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle on E. State
St. (SR26) in front of the Triple XXX restaurant. The vehicle had then fled from the scene. The injured pedestrian was identified as Courtney Limon, age 21 of Lafayette. Limon had multiple broken bones and was taken to St. Elizabeth East Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses said Limon had been attempting to cross State St. from near the front of the Triple XXX restaurant to go towards the Jiffy Lube, located on the south side of the street. The vehicle was traveling eastbound, down the hill, on State St. when it struck the woman. Witnesses said the small, red 4-door car continued eastbound on State St. (SR26) heading towards Lafayette.

Henry Bazan, age 27, of Lafayette turned himself in at the West Lafayette Police Department later that day. Bazan admitted to driving a red, 2001 Volkswagen Jetta and that he had struck a pedestrian in front of the Triple XXX restaurant. Bazan was arrested for failing to stop after an accident resulting in injury (a class D Felony) and was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
