Tippecanoe County Voter Registration

You can register if you will be 18 years of age on the date of the next election (which means you can register when you're 17 as long as your 18th birthday is before the first Tuesday in November).

Also, voter registration closes 30 days before the election. So don't expect to register the day before the election because it will be too late!

In Tippecanoe County, you can register to vote when you get your driver's license at the BMV, at the City Clerk's Office in Lafayette or West Lafayette, or you can register at the Tippecanoe County Board of Registration in the Tippecanoe County Courthouse on the first floor.

Board of Registration's Address:
Tippecanoe County Courthouse
301 Main Street
Lafayette, Indiana 47901

If you would rather not fill out the forms in person, you can:

The Board of Registration has two board members who staff the office, Democrat Nora Jarmon and Republican Linda Phillips. Phone numbers and an email address are listed below for your convenience. The office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For the record: You do not declare party affiliation when you register, so feel free to call either Nora or Linda with your questions. They'll help you out no matter what party you identify with!

When registering, you must provide the board with the following information:

Nope! In Indiana, voters do not declare party affiliation at registration.

Voter applicants are mailed postcard-sized acknowledgments that list precinct and voting districts. The notices are used to verify address. Cards returned as undeliverable are pulled from the active file.

Forms postmarked after the cutoff date (30 days before the next scheduled general election) will be held and processed when registration resumes December 1. Forms signed at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Lafayette or West Lafayette City Clerk's offices or the Voter Registration office after the cutoff will be held until December 1.

Voters who filed address changes after the cutoff may be eligible to vote in their old precincts.

Check with the Tippecanoe County Government's website to see where you should go to vote. There are photos and directions to the polling places on their website, and it is probably the most up-to-date and accurate site to get information about polling places for the current election cycle.
