LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- GLHS physical therapists Cathy Armstrong, Mame Adams, Ellora Gulati and Annika Miller have completed advanced post-graduate training in the treatment of vestibular and sensory system/inner ear disorders. They have experienced successful outcomes in treating related balance and gait dysfunction in patients presenting with identified conditions of frequent falls, deconditioning/postural mal-alignment, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and a wide range of balance and vestibular difficulties.
Referred patients receive a comprehensive evaluation of the vestibular, oculomotor, musculoskeletal and postural control systems. The treatment intervention is individually designed and sent to the physician for plan approval. Typically, a BPPV patient experiences resolution of symptoms within one to two visits.
"Real Eyes" infrared video goggles and the "Lite Gait" body weight support treadmill are utilized to assess potentials and maximize progress and functional outcomes.
For more information on vestibular and sensory system/inner ear disorders, please contact the GLHS Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Department at (765) 423-6885.
