Department of Computer and Information Technology open house features cell-phone forensics demos

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University’s Department of Computer and Information Technology, located in the College of Technology, will hold its fourth annual open house on April 25.

The event will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the second floor of Knoy Hall. Refreshments will be served.

Computer and information technology faculty will be on hand to answer questions about their work, programs of study offered in their area and show visitors around the various labs in the department. Prospective students are welcome to attend, as well as current students, staff, faculty and community members.

Class and research demonstrations will include computer and cell phone/mobile device forensics and its application to law enforcement; projects in Web applications for clients, network management and media application; mobile computing; network service infrastructure; wireless local area networking; clinical genotyping/drug safety assurance; and bioinformatics cluster computing.

The Department of Computer and Information Technology is one of eight departments in the College of Technology. Others are aviation technology, building construction management, computer graphics technology, electrical and computer engineering technology, industrial technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.
