WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University police are investigating blood stains found on a sidewalk Friday (April 4) near the Heine Pharmacy Building.
An employee for Radiological and Environmental Management discovered the stains when she was walking to her office and called police about 7:20 a.m., said Purdue police Lt. Fred Davis.
The three areas of blood – one measuring about a foot in diameter and another about eight inches – were discovered in an area about 90 feet southwest of the building’s south doors, Davis said. Police have tested and determined that it was human blood.
A trash can and a cigarette urn near the entrance also were knocked over.
In the same area, police also found a pair of silver wire-rimmed glasses with black temples, Davis said.
“We found no trails of blood, and we checked the pharmacy building for blood or anything that looked suspicious and didn’t see anything in the building out of the ordinary,” he said. “We’re also having building deputies on the north side of campus check their buildings.”
Davis said officers contacted the Tippecanoe County Jail and local health-care facilities to determine if anyone had been treated for injuries that could possibly be linked to the blood stains, but those calls yielded no leads.
