Lafayette City Grill is truly an unexpected find. The piano player was a fabulous touch, and the service rivals the best restaurants in Chicago (this reviewer has been to Gibson’s, Harry Caray’s, NoMi, etc). The brunch menu was sophisticated. Interesting spins on “usual” brunch fare, and the twists were neither gratuitous nor frouffie for frouffiness’ sake. The parking seemed a little on the sparse side, but it’s across the street from the downtown parking garage, so that really isn’t an issue. This would be a great date restaurant… especially if the date is Sunday morning brunch.

We ate here the last time we were in Lafayette.. The food was fabulous and it was nice to be in a restraunt that wasn’t overrun by students.. Definitely a great place for mom and dad to eat when visiting the kid in college..

The food is hit or miss - definitely overpriced. The service is not that great. The decor is nice, though.

The past few weeks it’s looked like they’re out of business. All dark, with a sign taped to the door, but I didn’t read it as I drove past. Oh well, I won’t miss them.
