First ‘40 under 40′ callout will honor young Purdue alumni


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue alumni under the age of 40 have the chance to be featured in an upcoming edition of the Purdue Alumnus magazine.

The Purdue Alumnus Magazine plans to honor forty alumni under the age of 40 who have been responsible for significant achievements or success in their respective field.

The Purdue Alumni Association is soliciting nominations for its first “40 under 40″ edition of the alumni magazine.

“We want to recognize our talented young alumni who have distinguished themselves in various careers and disciplines within a few years of earning their degrees,” said Kirk Cerny, executive director and CEO of the Purdue Alumni Association. “Purdue alumni are making a profound difference in their professions, communities, our nation, and the world. We look forward to honoring and highlighting remarkable young alumni through this recognition in the Purdue Alumnus.”

Nominees must have been born in 1970 or later. Young alumni should be responsible for significant achievements or success in their respective fields.

A link to the nomination form can be found online at www.purduealum.org/40under40. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30. Honorees will be notified in early December.

The special edition of the Purdue Alumnus is slated for July/August 2010.

Ivy Tech Community College searching for distinguished alumni


LAFAYETTE, Ind. -– Ivy Tech Community College is accepting nominations for its annual Distinguished Alumni award. The chosen alumni will be honored at the college’s commencement ceremony on May 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music, West Lafayette.

Nominees must be a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College and have received either an associate’s degree or a technical certificate, and not be a current Ivy Tech employee. Past award winners have been chosen for making a positive impact on their community, excelling in their chosen career, or outstanding support of Ivy Tech. Nominations can be submitted online at http://ivytech.edu/lafayette/alumni/nomination.html, or a paper nomination form is available by calling 765-269-5241.

Purdue College of Technology honors distinguished alumni


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University’s College of Technology honored 11 of its graduates as Distinguished Technology Alumni on Friday (April 11) during a ceremony at the Ross-Ade Stadium Shively Club.

Jen Bahan, Ron Eller, Allen R. Glassburn, Thomas D. Hjertquist, Randall Ket, Jane A. Liedtke, Timothy John Martin, John E. McDonald, Jon R. Odom, John R. Schooler and Mark A. Stidham are being honored for their professional and personal success across the spectrum of technology fields.

“Each one of these 11 men and women have made significant contributions to a wide variety of fields and industries,” said Dean Dennis R. Depew. “These College of Technology alumni are proof that there is not one single successful path for our graduates, but instead there are many career options available to our students once they graduate from Purdue.”
