Lafayette Farmers’ Market season opens May 1 with new 2008 hours

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Lafayette Farmers’ Market opens their season on Thursday, May 1 with new hours for the 2008 season.

Lafayette Farmers\' Market

One of Indiana’s oldest Farmers’ Markets and a Downtown Lafayette institution for more than 100 years, the Market is located on Fifth Street between Main and Columbia Streets. The Market is open May 1st through the end of October on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:30a–12:30p and Thursdays from 4:00p-7:00p.

Fresh fruits, vegetables, Chinese and Asian greens, gourmet dog biscuits, meats, soaps, kettle corn, free range farm fresh eggs, flowers, honey, maple syrup, jams and jellies, dried herbs, baked goods, soy candles, Traders Point certified organic whole mile, Fair Oaks cheeses, perennial flowering transplants, farm related arts/crafts are all examples of items available at selected times during the 2008 Market.

The number of growers and the amount of produce on a given day is dictated by the natural progression of the growing season. An early arrival ensures the best selection.

This year, fans of the Market can show support for the environment as well as local growers and producers by becoming a Friend of the Lafayette Farmers’ Market. Participating reserved vendors will have membership applications available for $25. Membership includes an environmentally conscious reusable tote bag and an email subscription for upcoming events or news at the Market.
