WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University police arrested a student on two felony drug charges Tuesday (Jan. 12).
According to a report, police were called around 10:30 p.m. because several people were seen going to a second-floor room at First Street Towers. Purdue police K9 Nicky was brought in and indicated the possible presence of drugs in the room. Police were given permission to enter and search the room, where about 113 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found, said Lt. Fred Davis.
Douglas B. Vaisnoras, 19, a sophomore in the College of Engineering from Carol Stream, Ill., was charged with possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana and dealing. Both are Class D felonies and are punishable by a maximum three-year prison term and up to a $10,000 fine.
Purdue police are continuing to investigate, and other arrests might be made.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Lafayette-Online) — Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Investigators are investigating a burglary and theft at Harrison High School. School officials reported the incident after it was discovered that meal trays and food items had been taken from the school’s kitchen sometime overnight.
According to Investigator Thomas Lehman, all of the suspects in what started as a “senior prank” have been identified and arrested. The meal trays were recovered, but nearly eight hundred dollars ($800.00) in food items that had been designated for the school’s morning breakfast were destroyed as a result of the incident causing the school officials to make other meal arrangements.
Lehman was assisted in the investigation by Lieutenant Terry Ruley, and Investigator Greg Haltom.
