Taste of Tippecanoe accepting press kits for 2010


LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Taste of Tippecanoe is accepting press kits and promotional material from musicians for the 29th Annual Taste of Tippecanoe until September 15, 2009.

Press kits from musicians interesting in performing at the 2010 Taste of Tippecanoe must be submitted by September 15, 2009.

The Taste of Tippecanoe is the major annual fundraising event for the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. TAF is the umbrella organization and arts council for 14 counties in North Central Indiana. The TASTE highlights various genres of music on 9 stages to an audience of nearly 40,000.

Performers in all genres of music will be considered and local and regional musicians are strongly encouraged to apply. TASTE 2010 will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Musicians and bands with an interest in performing at the 2010 Taste, should submit a press kit (recording, photo if possible, a short biography, references, and contact information including e-mail) to:

Electronic press kits will be considered but must be accompanied by a written request to perform. Electronic press kits should be e-mailed to mark@tasteoftippecanoe.org.

The deadline to submit press kits is September 15, 2009. A selection process will take place in October and notifications will be made by November 15, 2009.

Taste of Tippecanoe closes roads, detours buses in Downtown Lafayette


LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The annual “Taste of Tippecanoe” will cause road closures and significant detours in the Downtown Lafayette area on Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st. To help bus riders plan around the Taste festivities, CityBus has announced route and schedule changes for the weekend.

The Taste of Tippecanoe is a one day, multi-stage festival that draws more than 50,000 people and features a smorgasbord of local restaurants, live music, and ends with a spectacular fireworks show for kids of all ages.

ROAD CLOSURES: The corner of Third and Ferry streets will be closed to all traffic, including buses. The CityBus customer service office in Riehle Plaza will be closed on Saturday after 4PM.

TRANSFER CENTER: Buses will hold on Third St. between North and Cincinnati. 1B, 3B, 4B, and 4A will hold between North & Brown, 1A, 2A, 2B, 3A, 6A, 6B, 7 will hold between Cincinnati & North.

TROLLEY: Right on 4th, right on Ferry, right on 5th, right on Columbia, resume route at 2nd. (Note: While Farmer’s market is in effect, until about noon, trolley will need to use 6th instead of 5th). In West Lafayette, trolley will use State St. going east and west bound instead of Tapawingo and Brown. Brown St. will be bypassed.

1A MARKET SQUARE: Bus will depart to North St. as regular route. Evening outbound bus will turn right on 5th, left on Ferry. Inbound bus will turn right on 4th at Brown, left on Cincinnati, left on 3rd.

1B SALISBURY: The outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market in effect), right on Columbia, resume route at 2nd. Inbound bus will turn left on River Rd. from State St., right on the ramp to the Harrison Bridge, cross river, exit right on Third St.

2A SCHUYLER: Bus will depart North St. to right on 5th, left on Ferry St., resume route. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

2B UNION: Bus will depart North St. to left on 6th.

3A LAFAYETTE SQUARE: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market open), left on South. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

3B NORTHWESTERN: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s market open), right on Columbia, and will resume route at 2nd St. Inbound bus will turn left on River Rd. from State St., right on the ramp to the Harrison Bridge, cross river, exit right on Third St.

4A TIPPECANOE MALL: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market open), left on South. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

4B PURDUE WEST: The outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market operating), right on Columbia, resume route at 2nd.

6A FOURTH ST.: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market open), right on Columbia, left on 2nd. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

6B S. 18TH ST: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th (6th while Farmer’s Market open), left on South. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

7 STATE ROAD: Outbound bus will turn left on North, right on 5th, left on Ferry. Inbound bus will turn left on Cincinnati from 4th.

Volunteers needed for 2009 Taste of Tippecanoe


LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Volunteers are currently being sought to assist with the 2009 Taste of Tippecanoe festival scheduled for Saturday, June 20th in Downtown Lafayette.

The Taste of Tippecanoe is a one day, multi-stage festival that draws more than 50,000 people and features a smorgasbord of local restaurants, live music, and ends with a spectacular fireworks show for kids of all ages.

The Taste of Tippecanoe is a one day, multi-stage festival that draws more than 50,000 people and features a smorgasbord of local restaurants, live music, and ends with a spectacular fireworks show for kids of all ages.

The Taste is looking for people for various duties to work 2-hour shifts on June 20th between 4 pm and midnight. Volunteers are needed to help with various duties. All volunteers will receive free entry to the Taste and a t-shirt marking the occasion.

The 2009 Comcast Taste of Tippecanoe is the primary fundraising event for the Tippecanoe Arts Federation and supports over one hundred arts and education programs in a fourteen county area. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to TAF. Activities of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation are provided, in part, with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, with funds from the Indiana General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

2009 Comcast Taste Of Tippecanoe expands; announces music lineup


LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The 2009 Comcast Taste of Tippecanoe will take place on June 20, 2009. Forty restaurants, nine stages, thirty two bands, artist’s row and the most amazing fireworks show will showcase the premier summer event of the season from 4 pm to midnight in Downtown Lafayette and Tapawingo Park in West Lafayette. Tickets are $5.00 advance and $10.00 at the gate, 12 and under are free with and accompanying adult.

Due to the overwhelming response and number of bands, the 2009 Comcast Taste of Tippecanoe has expanded to nine stages with over forty local and regional acts.

In addition, Artist’s Row returns to Ferry Street and the Chef and Family stages will return to Tapawingo Park and feature a full lineup of music, contests and demonstrations.

Thee 2009 Comcast Taste of Tippecanoe will feature a free iPhone app that is downloadable from the Taste website; www.tasteoftippecanoe.org.

Printable online tickets are now available for $5.00 at www.tasteoftippecanoe.org Advanced tickets are $5.00 and will also be available May 1st at any Payless Supermarket.

In an effort to make the 2009 Comcast Taste of Tippecanoe a more environmentally friendly event, organizers have teamed up with Go Greener and will introduce recycling stations and a free bicycle parking area.

Proceeds from the Taste benefit over 100 arts and cultural organizations in fourteen counties in North Central Indiana.

The Taste will be held on June 20, 2009. The annual street festival highlights various genres of music and draws tens of thousands of people each year. Musicians, bands, etc. that have an interest in performing at the 2009 Taste, should submit a press kit (recording, photo if possible, a short biography and references) to:
